6 Staycation Worthy Outfit Ideas

by Emma Menteath, Editorial Lead

Before you start suffering from FOMO of cancelled flights, why not make like a tourist in your own country? With the rumour that pubs, cafes and hotels are due to open from the 4th July, it’s time to reset and reimagine a summer with a staycation and of course, all the picture-worthy outfits to wear while you're at it.

Whether you’re dreaming of a seaside escape or are up for something a little more adventurous like a day spent hiking in the forest, we’ve got your staycation outfits planned down to a tee (excuse the pun). Just keep scrolling for some major outfit inspo…

1. Plan a Picnic in the Park

Is it just us, or is everyone’s recent favourite staycation activity a picnic in the park? We can see the appeal. Nothing beats a well-stocked picnic basket, a bottle (or few) of rosé and a few hours soaking up the sun in a summery mini dress. Whether you prefer a quiet picnic shared between you and a loved one cuddled up under a tree reading a book , or something a little more social with your favourite mates (social distancing of course), a staycation picnic is something you just can’t beat.

2. Take a Hike

The UK is filled with the most incredible hiking trails that we often overlook for more exotic choices like Italian tours or Spanish beaches. Take advantage this summer and start exploring some hiking trails nearer you – who knows, you might just discover a new hobby. Remember, comfort is key when hiking, so we suggest cycling shorts and a well-stocked backpack filled with sunscreen, plenty of water and all your favourite snacks. After all, you’ll be burning through those calories.

3. Soak Up the Sun at the Beach

Are you ever truly in holiday mode until you’ve set foot on the beach? Beach days call for cold drinks, lots of snacks (duh), your favourite magazine and, of course, a must-have figure-loving swimwear. We’re loving the polka dot trend, so why not make a splash this summer in our lift and shape polka dot bikini. Complete the retro vibe with an oversized sunhat and a pair of statement sunglasses. Beach days just got hotter.

4. Brush Up on Your Camping Skills

Apparently, UK campsites are set for a staycation boom this summer. Never been camping? Well maybe now’s the time to try – think of all those toasted marshmallows and scary stories shared around the campfire... sounds like an adventure, right? Gain massive style points by opting for a comfortable yet stylish jumpsuit for your camping staycation, teamed perfectly with a pair of matching lace-up boots. Never say never - look who’s about the take on the wild now.

5. Take a Stroll on the Boardwalk

Almost everyone has a different idea of what the perfect staycation consists of. For some, a simple stroll somewhere new ticks all the right boxes. With summer on the horizon, why not take a drive to your nearest pier for a stroll followed by fish and chips by the sea – because why not? We suggest layering a simple swimwear under a cute pair of shorts or mini skirt for an outfit that allows for maximum tanning opportunities, whether you’re lying on the beach or walking on the pier.

6. A Culture Outing

While we can’t be certain of a date for the reopening of museums and art galleries, it doesn’t mean we can’t dress for a staycation occasion thanks to galleries around the world offering virtual tours and music performances. Grab that bottle of wine and enter full-screen mode for a culture night in while snacking on cheese and crackers. Who’s the fancy one now 😉.
