by Chloe Wilshere, Content Creator

Denim has been around for centuries, but, when we think of denim, a pair of jeans are always the first thing that come to mind, right? It’s often forgotten just how versatile denim can be and just how many different ways to wear denim there really are.

And let’s not forget that a pair of jeans may not be for everyone, so if you like denim but aren’t a fan of jeans, or you’re an avid denim lover looking for all the different ways you can incorporate denim into your wardrobe, then we’ve rounded up 8 ways to wear denim that doesn’t include jeans.

1.    Denim Cycling Shorts

Whilst we were all a little apprehensive at first, we’re all now pretty accustomed to our comfy cotton cycling shorts. But whilst fashion never sleeps, the cycling shorts trend has been taken to a new level and it’s time to ease out of cotton and jump into this summer’s hottest trend: denim cycling shorts.

From Gigi and Bella Hadid to Kendall Jenner and all the girls that are spotted wearing fashion-forward trends at fashion week, denim cycling shorts have been on their radar for some time now. So get ahead of the trends and get yourself a pair of denim cycling shorts. Our lift & shape denim knee shorts are the figure flattering and on-trend denim shorts that you need to add to your basket asap. Take inspiration from fashion-savvy street-style stars and pair your denim cycling shorts with a collared top, leather jacket, strappy heels and a clutch bag.

2.    A Western-Inspired Denim Dress

Last summer it was hard to leave the house without hearing Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’, and it was the theme tune to pretty much everyone’s summer. And,in typical pop culture style, the anthem saw western fashion come back literally overnight. Whilst western fashion trends are always around, this season they’re back in a big way. And a key part of western fashion is denim.

This season we particularly love western-inspired denim dresses. You might question: what makes a denim dress ‘western inspired’? It is, quite simply, a very structured fit and the added detail of some puff sleeves. So get Bella Hadid’s look by purchasing our white denim puff sleeve mini dress, pair with some killer heels for a night out or keep the western trend going by throwing on a pair of western-style boots to finish off the look.

3.    A Denim Mini Skirt

A denim mini skirt is nothing new to the fashion world, but they’re certainly a wardrobe staple. Whether it’s to be worn during a scorching heatwave or it’s that must-have for when you head abroad, a denim mini skirt always comes in handy.

This season, we love the classic denim mini skirt paired back with a fun logo T-shirt and biker boots. It’s a super simple but on-trend look that’s great for days out and meeting up with friends.

4.    A Classic Denim Shirt

It doesn’t get much more classic than a denim shirt. A denim shirt is a versatile piece in your wardrobe that can be worn in more ways than you might first think. Whether you choose to brave a double denim look or throw it on over a T-shirt, it’s a piece in your wardrobe that’s sure to be well loved.

This season we’re loving darker denim and our navy denim shirt will be a welcome addition to your wardrobe as you prepare for A/W. It’s scary to many, but we also love a double-denim look. Yes, we’re all haunted by Justin and Britney’s 90s double-denim look, but we promise that this season it’s more chic and on-trend than ever before. Style up your navy shirt with a pair of navy bootcut jeans, chuck a blazer over the top and finish off with some heeled sock boots to create a look that’s perfect to strut your way back into work after a few months at home.

5.    Denim Cargo Trousers

If you love jeans but often find them uncomfortable then we’ve got the holy grail of denim for you: cargo pants.

The humble cargo trouser is an updated way to wear denim, and if you often struggle to find jeans that fit you just right, then a cargo trouser will be a game changer for you. Perfect for those that are narrower in the waist but more curvy in the thighs and bum, cargo trousers sculpt perfectly around your figurewithout scrimping on comfort. Often made from a super-soft denim, too, they’re ultra-comfortable to wear and look great on.

Whether you’re a minimalist dresser or love a bit of 90s grunge, you’re sure to love a cargo trouser. We particularly love Hailey Bieber’s minimalist dressed up approach to the cargo trouser, and we’ve got the perfect replica of her look. Style a pair of camel cargo trousers with a cropped corset top, chuck a blazer over the top and your best pair of heels - not only have you nabbed Hailey’s look for a fraction of the price, but that’s also the outfit for your next night out sorted.

6.    An On-Trend Denim Top

If you’re a denim lover through and through, then one thing you’re likely missing that you’ll want to snap up asap is a denim top. Denim tops are new for the season and we’re totally obsessed with them.

For an on-trend look, take inspiration from street-style stars and couple our pale blue puff sleeve denim top with a pair of like-coloured jeans; for a night out, team it with some heels or keep it casual with a pair of chunky white trainers.

7.    A Denim Jacket

If you’re looking for denim with a difference, then we’ve got one word for you: white. White gives denim pieces a fresh and clean look, and we couldn’t love it more this season.
As we head into that in-between fashion season, we recommend a high-waist denim skirt, a matching white denim jacket layered over a roll neck (in case of a chill). Finish of the look with some on trend-western boots and a cross-body bag.

8.    A Not-So-Simple Denim Playsuit

If you want to add some fun, versatile pieces to your wardrobe, then a denim playsuit is the perfect option for you. Perfect for both scorching hot days, like the ones that have taken over our lives over the past few weeks, and it’s a key piece in every wardrobe thanks to its versatility.

Keep it casual for days out with the family by simply wearing it with a pair of white trainers, or, if you’re looking for something new to wear when you finally head back to work, then style the denim playsuit with some black court heels and a cross-body bag for the perfect outfit to greet all your colleagues again after a few months of not being face-to-face.
