4 Head-to-Toe Tonal Looks That Are Cosy and Cute

by Nina Lea Caine, Guest Author

Gosh, where did October go, hey? I swear it was July five minutes ago. But you know what? I do love autumn. The colours of the trees, the sunny days with a slight chill in the air, cosying up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and, of course, the autumn tonal dressing.

Now, I know this year is a little bit different as a lot of us are continuing to working at home due to the dreaded ‘C’ word, but I’ve got 4 tonal looks to share with you for when you’re working at home or popping out for those essentials which will keep you looking effortlessly chic, yet cosy. Let's start with the cosy looks, though,as I think we all need some lovely loungewear in our wardrobes right now.

1. Back to Black

When in doubt, wear black. You cannot go wrong with a black outfit combo in my eyes and this head-to-toe tonal option can look sleek in any style whether you’re sporting an LBD or styling these leather-look joggers like me.

Today, I've gone for comfort with the weather becoming a lot colder. I wanted to show you a way to style a comfy outfit for days when you want to feel put together when, in actual fact, you are having a bad hair day - cue the beanie! I love to style my coats with a high neck jumper so this super-soft one is a perfect option for comfortable tonal dressing. I then finished the outfit with my gorgeous belted maxi, this is a staple piece that you will have for years, it’s just a dream to wear and goes with everything! I sized up in this for a more oversized fit; plus, you can wear more cosy knitwear underneath for the winter months.

2. Self-Care Loungewear

Self care is more important than ever and looking after your mental health as well as your body is super important. Now’s the perfect time to embrace those relaxed days more than ever, treat yourself to a comfy outfit and binge watch all of your favourite movies or an old classic series, like Friends, totally guilt-free.

I have styled my tonal loungewear look using jersey items because, for me, this is the ultimate comfort fabric when I'm relaxing. For tonal dressing, I went with a gorgeous mink colour combo and if you aren't a huge fan of the sporty jogger, then these mink wide legs trousers are a great option for you. Team it with a super-soft tee and comfy slipper socks and you're good to go. Now, go jump on that sofa with your snacks and get stuck into a good series!

3. Work from Home (But Make It Cute)

I've worked from home for a good few years now, however it seems a lot more of you have had a taster of working from home for the first time over the past few months and will continue to do so. I know for some it can’t be easy, it's hard to get motivated when you are sat there in your PJs wondering where to start but I have a few tips for tonal dressing comfortably whilst still looking cute on that Zoom call.
First, go super comfy with your bottoms. A pair of knitted joggers are a go-to for me and these beautiful ones have been worn many times over the past week - I'm actually wearing them now whilst writing this! Secondly, team your bottoms with a comfy basic. I've gone for this vest as I live in these styles whilst working from home. Thirdly, add a bit of jewellery. This gold necklace elevates any comfy look to be that little bit chicer and gives off that effortlessly thrown-on feel. Finally, layer up. I love to layer my work-from-home looks with cute cardigans like this, adding to that cosy tonal dressing vibe.

4. Cosy and Chic

Now onto the outerwear. The maxi coat is a huge staple for this season and this mink colour works perfectly for tonal dressing and popping out for your essentials or winter walks. I must say, this is one of my favourite outfits I've ever worn, I just love how effortlessly chic it feels on. Being a neutral girl, I love pairing it with colours that complement one another, so I went for a lighter-coloured jumper dress so that it stands out next to the coat. This dress complements the coat perfectly and is a chic way to stay comfortable and look ready for the day ahead. I then toned the outfit back down with my chunky black boots and a woven-style bag for added texture.
