4 Ways To Wear Jeans In 2020

by Emma Menteath, Editorial Lead

For most of us a good pair of jeans is an essential in our wardrobe, along with a simple tee, favourite jumper and a pair of boots. It’s something we always feel comfortable in whatever the weather or time of year. That said, there are still loads of ways to play around with styling your go-to pair of jeans.

With new jean styles stepping to the forefront – like the bootcut and balloon – there’s plenty of options to try something new in the mornings.

Keep scrolling to see how to wear your jeans in 2020.

1. How To Wear Balloon Jeans

If you’re looking to buy into this new denim trend, opt for a pair of balloon jeans with a high-rise waistline and all-important tapered ankle, rolled up for a nod to the 80s. Balance the volume of balloon jeans with a fitted top or bodysuit – we love our high neck bodysuit for a vintage Asian-inspired look. Elevate your look with a pair of strappy heels and hoop earrings for a night out. Or for something a little more laid back, team your balloon jeans with sneakers and a blazer.

2. How To Wear Bootcut Jeans

The 70s silhouette last seen in the 90s and early noughties is back! Bootcut jeans are set to be huge this year and we’ve already noticed some of our favourite celebs wearing them, specifically Gigi Hadid and Katie Holmes. The bootcut shape makes for the ultimate pair of leg-lengthening jeans, especially when styled with a pair of boots. Embrace the western trend and style your bootcut jeans with a cute blouse and a tasselled bag for a polished look you can wear all through the week.

3. How To Wear Mom Jeans

If there’s one style of jeans worth buying into this year, it’s the mom jean. The last big denim trend to make it into the mainstream, the mom jean is relaxed and versatile and goes with just about anything. Whether you're looking to dress them up with a bodysuit for a night out, style them with a blazer for work or keep it cool with a sweatshirt and trainers for the ultimate laid-back weekend look, mom jeans are a stylish and flattering look to adopt.

4. How To Wear Straight Leg Jeans

For a fashion-forward look, try a double-denim ensemble. Pair your straight leg jeans with a cute slogan tee – we’re loving lips at the moment – and a buttoned-up denim jacket. Too soon for tees? Layer your denim jacket over a turtleneck or a thin puff sleeved knit for warmth. One of the key tricks to styling your straight leg jeans is to get the shoes right. We suggest embracing the must-loved white trainer. For our petite girls, why not style your jeans with a pair of chunky boots or kitty heels for extra height.
