by Chloe Wilshere, Content Creator

It’s the age old question we always ask ourselves ‘what shoes go with these jeans?’ After trying on a million pairs of different shoes you still walk out of the house in a pair you’re not totally confident go with your jeans… it’s a situation we’ve all been in. So we’re here to help with a round up of the shoes you should be wearing with each style of jeans.

1. What Shoes Do I Wear With Skinny Jeans?

Your skinny jeans are a wardrobe staple, there’s no getting rid of them. But from time to time you question what shoes you should be wearing with them.

Thankfully for you, there’s not much in the shoe department that doesn’t go with the skinny leg staple. With the help of a few celebrity friends, we’ve rounded up the easiest shoes to wear with the skinny jean.

The skinny jean is perfect for keeping casual or dressed up and it’s all down to the shoes you put on with them.

You can keep them super casual like Beyonce by throwing on some trainers and a plain white tee, the perfect casual weekend outfit, or add a bit of grunge to your outfit with some biker boots like Stella Maxwell. The skinny jean is one of the easiest styles to dress up as shown to us by Sarah Jessica Parker. By simply throwing on a court heel your skinny jeans are dressed up to dance the night away.

2. What Shoes Do I Wear With Mom Jeans?

The mom jean has undoubtedly been the new denim trend that is everyone’s new go to. The mom jean is a high-waisted, relaxed fit, which is cool, flattering, has a vintage touch and is inspired by the ‘moms’ of the 90s.

A big part of styling the mom jean is knowing what shoes to wear with them, but it’s not as difficult as you might first think when you’re stood in front of the mirror having tried on every pair of shoes you own.

The mom jean, much like the skinny jean, is easy to style with your shoes. Keep it casual like Olivia Culpo in a flat mule paired with a bodysuit, the perfect outfit for a spring day, or dress them up for a day in the office like Rosie Huntington Whiteley with a pair of pointed courts, finished off with a blazer. You can also style the mom jean for the era they hail from with a pair of chunky trainers like Gigi Hadid.

3. What Shoes Do I Wear With Straight Leg Jeans?

Whilst denim trends come and go, one thing’s for sure, and that is that you can always rely on the straight leg jean. They’re a treasured piece in everyone’s wardrobe and whether you wear them casually at the weekend or use them as your go-to for jeans and a nice top, the straight leg jean is universally flattering. And as shown by the celebrities, you really can wear them in every which way.

Alessandra Ambrosio shows us that a simple heeled boot goes perfectly with a straight leg jean and makes for the perfect casual day-to-day outfit. Lucy Hale then shows us that the straight leg jean also works perfectly in the summer worn with a cami top and sandals. Hailey Bieber dresses the straight leg jean casually but with a 90s strappy heel.

4. What Shoes Do I Wear With Kick Flare Jeans?

Flared denim styles are on the rise and we particularly love the crop kick flare. They’re a Jane Birkin (70s model icon)-inspired style that flatter your body and, worn with the right shoes, can add height and are also super slimming.

Kaia Gerber wears the crop kick flare jeans with a heeled sock boot, which, if you're smaller in height, is the perfect way to extend the length of your legs. Priyanka Chopra wears the kick flare with a heeled mule, the perfect outfit for work. And Selena Gomez shows us that the kick flare jean also looks great with a pair of white trainers, styled casually with a blouse and cardigan.

5. What Shoes Do I Wear With Wide Leg Jeans?

From bootcut to flares to the super oversized, wide leg jeans cover a range of fits. They’re probably the hardest style of jean to find the perfect pair of shoes for. It’s key that you find something that works with their voluminous style and the way to do that is by making your shoe choice chunky… the chunkier the sole the more flattering your wide leg jeans will look.

The bootcut jean is one of the easiest wider legs to style shoes with as it does what it says on the tin, it’s all about boots, boots and more boots. Rosie Huntington Whiteley demonstrates this perfectly. Make like Rosie and style your boots with a wide leg jean to help extend the length of your legs.

Bella Hadid wears her wide leg jeans with a chunky trainer, which is a great way to dress down a wide leg jean. They’re also super comfortable too.

In the summer months when you’re looking to show off your new pedicure, the good news for you is that sandals also work with wide leg jeans. As shown by Lily Taieb, it’s all about the chunky flatform sandals. The flatform helps to give you some height off the ground and stops your jeans brushing along the floor if they are longer in length.

6. What Shoes Do I Wear With Balloon Jeans?

Balloon jeans are the newest addition to the denim family and although they’re flattering and can be worn dressed up or casually, it can be hard to know what shoes to wear with them.

The Balloon jean is an update on 80s style denim that offers a waist minimising, wide leg silhouette in a comfortable and practical style. But due to their shape, it’s key to balance their volumous silhouette with your footwear choices.

Kendall Jenner inspires us on how to wear the balloon jean - with a sock boot. A sock boot meets the hem of balloon jeans perfectly and styled with a slogan t-shirt and with the jeans cinched in at the waist with a belt, it makes for the perfect everyday outfit.

Gigi Hadid also shows us that the balloon jean works perfectly in the spring with a flatform sandal. And our Brand Ambassador Rochelle Humes keeps the balloon jean casual but professional in flat, pointed mules - perfect for a day in the office. Another key shoe to wear with the balloon leg shape is a 90s strappy heel.. tie them up under your jeans or, if your feeling brave, adopt the new trend for tying them over your jeans.
