How New Lookers Plan on Celebrating NYE with a Bang

by Emma Menteath, Content Lead

2020 is coming to an end and hopefully with it all its challenges. We look to New Year's Eve optimistically as a chance to celebrate. Whether that means rocking out in your living room to all those nostalgic hits, sipping bubbles in a totally OTT outfit and reflecting on the year that’s just passed, or putting on your very own fashion show - only for it to end with takeaway pizza and heels kicked to the corner.

This New Year's Eve, we’ve decided to turn to our very own New Lookers to find out how they plan on making their 2020 go out with a bang, because at New Look we’re all about embracing the fun and living in the moment.

We say…bring on 2021!

1. Dressing Up with @Emilybethbrannan

What did 2020 teach you?
To appreciate what you have, because you never know what's around the corner.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
To spend as much time with my friends and family as possible - and a nice holiday in the sunshine!

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Unlimited bubbles! (We couldn't agree more Emily!)

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
I'll be having honey daiquiris and definitely some Prosecco at midnight.

2. Staying In with @Chessie.L & @Eyescreamsam

What did 2020 teach you?
Life is too short to not buy the things in your online basket.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Having massive parties to celebrate all the good things that we couldn’t in 2020.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Don’t scrimp on the wine...or the snacks.

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Wine with a side of wine for me and martinis, shaken not stirred, for Sam.

3. Making Mulled Wine with @Billiejo_S

What did 2020 teach you?
That I love FaceTiming more than I ever knew!

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Being able to visit my friends and family, and hopefully lots of travel!

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Put on a banging playlist, pour yourself a strong drink and tuck into your favourite treat foods - we all deserve it after the year we’ve had.

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Technically not a cocktail, but mulled wine all the way!

4. Toasting to the New Year with @Willdavidcharles

What did 2020 teach you?
2020 has taught me that life is unpredictable, one minute you can be at a concert surrounded by thousands of people than the next moment you can be in a global pandemic staying 2 meters away from everyone and anyone. Nothing is guaranteed so take each day as it comes and enjoy it!

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
I am looking forward to hopefully moving up to London! Having started this role within a global pandemic I am yet to meet any colleagues so have made amazing cyber colleague friends over the months but there’s nothing quite like the real thing is there! – I also am in desperate need of a holiday so fingers crossed we can travel!

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
I am going to be calling everyone and anyone and chatting about this past year – how crazy it has been and manifesting a better 2021! I’m also definitely going to binge on some naughty food and wine! How can we not?! It’s been a long year!

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
I might mix my own, 2020 has been a wild one so let's leave it with a wild cocktail, lots of devil juice with some fizz – chef kiss – bring on 2021!

5. Keeping It Casual with @Chloewilshere

What did 2020 teach you?
To never underestimate the power of people. Even during the middle of a worldwide pandemic, the people around you are willing to drop everything to help when you’re in need.
2020 has also taught me that it’s okay to stay home. Before this year I was a person that always had to have plans and be busy doing something. I couldn’t bare the thought of an evening spent at home with nothing to do. But TBH, I’ve been so accustomed to it now I’m not actually sure I’m ready to make real-life plans again.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
The continued happiness & health of my family, seeing my nan & granddad for the first time in over a year, my holiday to Thailand that’s been postponed one too many times year, oh and festivals, I can’t go another year without a festival.

Top Tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Rule number 1 is to always set the mood, lighting is a key player to achieving this. Then you’ll need a top-notch playlist, with enough songs to keep it going for hours, nobody likes repeats. And lastly, enough food and drink to keep everyone happy and merry.

What's your cocktail choice for the evening?
A: TBH, this NYE I plan to stay sober. There have been many nights in 2020 I’ve indulged in a little too much wine hoping to make this year go a little faster. But the night we say goodbye to 2020 is one I want to remember and start 2021 on a clean slate and feeling fresh.

6. Dancing the Night Away with @Naeemahpeace

What did 2020 teach you?
To be more comfortable being myself. To be more patient with myself and that I really value the people I have closest to me.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
I absolutely cannot wait to go out clubbing with the girls and to festivals with my bae.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Make sure you have a banging snack and cocktail selection. Don’t forget the music. Maybe even curate a NY music night playing your fave songs from the year till countdown.

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
I’ll deffo be making some delicious DIY passionfruit martinis.
