How New Lookers Plan on Celebrating NYE with a Bang Part 2

by Emma Menteath, Content Lead

2020 is coming to an end and hopefully with it all its challenges. We look to New Year's Eve optimistically as a chance to celebrate. Whether that means rocking out in your living room to all those nostalgic hits, sipping bubbles in a totally OTT outfit and reflecting on the year that’s just passed, or putting on your very own fashion show - only for it to end with takeaway pizza and heels kicked to the corner. This New Year's Eve, we’ve decided to turn to our very own New Lookers to find out how they plan on making their 2020 go out with a bang, because at New Look we’re all about embracing the fun and living in the moment. We say…bring on 2021!

1. Staying In with @Priya.Odedra

What did 2020 teach you?
2020 taught me how precious time is with loved ones and that the best memories are usually the really little moments in life, like those uncontrollable laughing fits with friends and family for no apparent reason.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
I’m most looking forward to the summer, a few of my friends are due to get married so I am really excited to celebrate some overdue milestones from 2020 and new ones in 2021, but generally hoping for a positive and happy year for everyone.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Lots of your favourite food, wine and music that takes you back to moments earlier in the year – you know, the ones that will remind you of March 2020 attempting all those TikTok dances in lockdown!

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Mines always a classic G&T - I’ve learnt that the trick to a good G&T is to add lots of ice, so it doesn’t melt too quickly.

2. Beats & Bubbles with @robbiwatts150 & @Natalia_W

What did 2020 teach you?
Nat: Be patient, things will happen when they are meant to happen! Robbi: Don’t take the little things for granted.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Nat: The hope of a much needed hot holiday, sun on my face and feet in the sand. Also, the opportunity to hug everyone again! Robbi: Being able to plan… seeing mates and travelling.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Nat: Good company, great music, super high heels & tequila!! Robbi: Great music, friends, food and drinks with a sprinkling of NY decorations.

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Nat: Margarita’s Robbi: Aperol spritz

3. Casual & Cool with @My_Kall

What did 2020 teach you?
To slow down and not feel like I need to do everything. And not take quality time with friends and family for granted.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Looking forward to being able to travel to some far flung destinations (hopefully 🤞🏽) and some festival fun would be great too.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
A good selection of drinks, ice, a banging playlist and snacks!

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
As a coffee lover, I would probably keep it classic with an espresso Martini.

4. Keeping it Cosy with @Sharnadelej

What did 2020 teach you?
2020 taught me to enjoy every moment and not to take anything for granted! Things that once seemed so normal like spending time with friends & family were taken away and it made me realise that perhaps I did take that for granted.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
A holiday! This is the first time in over 7 years I haven’t been away and I have really missed it. The only time I truly switch off from everything is when I’m lying on a beach with my kindle in the sun and where the hardest decision I have to make is what cocktail to have. I love exploring new places, cultures and trying new foods, so I really can't wait to do that again.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
Lots of food and lots of fizz.

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Well it would be a pornstar martini but they are never quite the same at home, so it’s all the fizz for me.

5. Cocktails with @Phoebethearose

What did 2020 teach you?
That I quite like wearing sweatpants every day. And being on zoom to your friends and family does not compare to being with them in real life.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
THE.BEACH. I cannot wait to go on holiday again.

Top tips for making your NYE at home go with a bang?
If you want it to go with a bang, I’d put on a banger (sorry). I’d suggest Edge of Midnight (Miley Cyrus x Stevie Nicks).

What’s your cocktail of choice for the evening?
Amaretto Sours all night please.
